Grading is the most important step in any sod installation and the one most frequently shortcut by inexperienced contractors. We establish proper slope away from structures to prevent water intrusion, eliminate low spots that collect standing water, and create a smooth, firm surface that allows sod to make consistent soil contact. Poor grading is the root cause of most sod failures and drainage complaints.
Site Preparation
Before installation, we remove existing vegetation, debris, and rocks, till and amend the soil as needed, and ensure the surface is ready to receive sod. On new construction sites, we often work with compacted clay subsoil that needs significant amendment and ripping before it will support healthy turf. Proper site preparation is not optional if you want the sod to establish and stay healthy.
Sod Installation
We install sod in staggered rows with tight seams, rolling the sod after installation to eliminate air pockets and ensure consistent soil contact. Edges are cut cleanly along beds, walks, and drives for a finished appearance. We work efficiently on large commercial jobs and with the attention to detail that residential clients expect when their lawn is the project.
Lawn Replacement
When an existing lawn has failed beyond the point of recovery, full replacement is the most cost-effective path forward. We assess what caused the failure, address the underlying issue whether that is grubs, drainage, compaction, or disease, and install new sod on a properly prepared site. Skipping this step is the most common reason sod installations fail or develop drainage problems later.
What type of sod do you install?

How long does sod take to root?
